Updated Popular Vote Total - pre-Super Tuesday

Here's the latest update to the cumulative popular vote in the Democratic presidential contest:

The last update was February 10th. Since then Kerry's margin over Edwards has actually declined to 16 points (42-26) from 18 points (42-24). And despite the withdrawal of two major candidates, Kerry's percentage of the popular vote declined from 42.18% to 41.77%. 885,789 votes have been added since February 10th, about 25% of the cumulative total.

However, the increase in Edwards' total was also slight - from 24% to 26%.

In the "moral victory" category, Dean has now passed Clark for 3rd place, and Sharpton has now passed Lieberman for 5th place.

These numbers do not include Iowa, Washington, or Nevada because the raw vote totals for caucus-goers were not reported.

I obtained the raw data from the ABC News state-map page and the CNN Election '04 page (browse by state results).
